Hi all: For comments and other such things, it could be helpful to include a signature at the end. This can be done by typing --~~~~. You could also click on the scribble icon (2nd to right) above the editing textbox. --dna1112 18:50, 4 Jun 2005 (EDT)
- This only works if you log in. (Otherwise the system doesn't know who you are.) --ASW 16:31, 12 Jun 2005 (EDT)
And I suggest that we put a link to the main page (i.e. iGEM 2005) on every page for easy navigation. --dna1112 23:13, 4 Jun 2005 (EDT)
- Every page has a "What links here" (see the toolbox at the left). Maybe that's enough? --ASW 13:54, 9 Jun 2005 (EDT)
If a page has only one link pointing to it, and that link is obliterated, you won't be able to retrieve it unless you explicitly search for it. Very likely, it will be forgotten and thus lost. --dna1112 16:01, 9 Jun 2005 (EDT)
I was also thinking of going back to update old pages to make them look nice, but then I decided to leave them as they were when people stopped editing them, for archival reasons. --Dpopper 19:28, 9 Jun 2005 (EDT)
- History is always preserved in a wiki, so, what's on the web should be as up-to-date as possible. Also it's better to avoid making new pages when the main idea of a page changes direction; it's better to "move" the page in that case. --ASW 16:49, 12 Jun 2005 (EDT)
Any thoughts on a team name? --Iphillips 21:55, 10 Jun 2005 (EDT)
- "BL05: Our enthusiasm is infectious." Outcome of 2005-06-13, Rm 1058. --dna1112
To see how these work visit one of the Categories above. I have replaced the Protocols page with Category:Protocols. Notice that the Protocols category page is auto-generated. To make that happen add the appropriate categories on each protocol's page. Eg. add [[Category:Protocols]] [[Category:iGEM]] [[Category:Molecular Biology]] for a Molecular Biology Protocol.
To help keep things organized, please, use categories on your own pages.
