Contents

BioWire

Pros-

  • Different kinds of signals, Don't have insulation.
  • Cells that receive, versus ones that don't
  • Multiplexing,
  • No explicit connections, self organizing lines
  • Use of photolithography

Cons-

  • Very macroscopic
  • Slower than electrical wires.
  • Could be done with gap junctions

Bacto-Sketch

Pros-

  • Different sensing areas
  • Outputs are useful
  • Cool.
  • Short input time.
  • Genetic Latch
  • Like UT.
  • Like the coaster idea.

Cons-

  • UV pen.
  • Will Ecoli produce the substances we want, when they are struggling
  • Kind of similar to UT.

Coaster

Pros-

  • Links with other projects
  • Sensing different levels
  • not long is the response time.
  • Neat

Cons-

  • length of the stimuli

QS-(spray)

Pros-

  • Wider reaching implictions
  • Good background research
  • Other testing methods.
  • Biologically inert

Cons-

  • Has a non-biological.
  • Testing with non-preengineered cells.

BioWire

Kang-Xing Orr Danny Patrick
Connie Sasha Paula

Tasks:

  • Photolithography
  • Modelling
  • Signaling molecules (AHL, others) and detection.
  • Microscopy/visualization

Bacto-Sketch/Coaster

Yin Thomas Hing
Yves Chris Jenny

Tasks:

  • Stable film - UT
  • UV pen
  • Circuit Design
  • Signaling of on/off (UV and Temp sensing)
  • Reporter system

Tasks for both:

  • Circuit design
  • Literature/Part Research
  • Find ways of fast (non-transcriptional) reporting.
